Heliä Mailiis Viirakivi is a singer, flutist and improviser from Finland. Her artistic work combines contemporary music and improvisation in the frame of academic contemporary music, and she also has a long experience working with Finnish folk-gospel music. She is an active performer of contemporary music and always eager to work in multidisciplinary art projects. Her recent performance collaborations include composers such as Benjamin Dwyer, Arvo Pärt, Veljo Tormis, Gon Muruaga, Eladio Aguilar, Anna-Mari Kähärä, Manuel de Falla, Paul McCartney, Benjamin Britten, Paul Mealor, and societies such as Chamber Choir Gloria and Tallinn International Youth Orchestra. Her recent artists collaborations include great colleagues such as Gonzalo Muruaga (electronics), Federico Ellade Peruzzotti (installation art), Ritva Laine (poetry), Andris Kaļiņins, (visual), Robert Fleitz (piano) and Aigars Raumanis (sax), Viktória Šinkorová (guit). She has recently collaborated with venues such as Asbestos Art Space (Helsinki), Solaris Gallerii (Tallinn) and Ankru Saal (Kopli).
